Channel Partners Conference and Expo 2019: Three Packed Days

Earlier this month, we headed out to Las Vegas for this year’s Channel Partners Conference and Expo, the largest event in the channel gathering 6,200+ channel pros from VARs and MSPs, to consultants and suppliers. Our channel team anxiously awaits this expo, so we packed our schedules and spent three days meeting with new partners, speaking on industry panels, and networking with thousands of channel executives.  

We’re always excited to take the time at events like these to share how Fuze is building our channel partner program and adding value to our customers. Because our days were penciled in tight, we took some time to round-up the highlights.

Talkin’ Cloud til You’re Walkin’ Cloud

We’re not just talk! We were honored to sit alongside executives from companies like Vonage and Webscale on a panel to discuss just how we’re proving that the channel is becoming a driving force behind cloud services. Fuze was also recognized during the panel for being selected as the Workforce of Tomorrow award recipient, further supporting our initiatives of constant innovation in communications and collaboration for large, forward-thinking businesses.

The UCaaS Thunderdome

A panel made up of some of the most competitive companies in our industry created an opportunity for the major players to ‘take the gloves off’. The 50-minute fast-paced conversation was a great way to measure up to other leading channel programs. Our friendly match-up included topics like consumerized UI, enterprise-grade implementation, and one of our favorites, the “app generation” entering the workforce. With our fellow UC vendors, we broke down exactly how the channel plays a role in each of these critical business objectives.

Meeting and Mingling

We’re always happy to see is a packed Fuze meeting room, and in this case, a meeting room so packed we could have used another--or two! Sitting down with prospective and existing partners is one way that we maintain and grow our channel. This year, we engaged in opportunities for partners to move their customers’ communications system from on-prem to the cloud, a massive push we are seeing in the industry. We are proud to see the trust and excitement our partners and prospects have about the Fuze platform and the opportunities it brings their customers. Along with our scheduled meetings, we got a more casual chance to mingle with an enormous room of channel leaders at the Partner Happy Hour, which served as a great networking event and a chance to relax.

Trends on our Radar: AI and Cloud Migration

The most important thing to our team is leaving conferences like Channel Partners with a fresh outlook on the channel and a glimpse into what’s new in our ever changing industry. The top trends we saw dominate the conversation this year were around AI and cloud migration.

It’s no secret channel partners are getting excited about AI, allowing them to deliver more value to the customer by optimizing communications through the use of technology. At Fuze, AI enables us to collect customer data, which also helps channel partners better understand the platform they are selling, and ultimately gives them the insights to understand how to make their customers successful.

Along with technology advances in AI, cloud migration continued to rule the conversation at this year’s expo. On-prem hardware is swiftly becoming a thing of the past as more IT executives champion cloud services. Moving to the cloud is also a major trend as companies prepare for the future of work, and we saw first hand this year that channel leaders are beginning to take the leap towards relying on their vendors to provide them with the right platform to succeed in digital transformation.

Our experience at Channel Partners Conference and Expo is never short of thrilling! My colleagues and I make it a point to soak up every opportunity at the expo to explore new ideas, mingle with our partners and, of course, make new relationships with the leaders of channel programs across the world. We are proud to be a part of the channel community that gathers yearly at this conference, and we’re already looking forward to next year!

J.P. Dundas is the Director, North America Channel Sales at Fuze. He works with partners strategically to help them build new business and strategy. Spending his entire professional career in the technology industry building direct and indirect channels, J.P. knows that the key to success is building strong relationships with partners, customers, and co-workers. In 2012, J.P. was named as "Readers' Choice" as a Top 15 channel manager in the telecom indirect channel by the readers of Channel Partners magazine and has also been invited to numerous President's Club's throughout his career. J.P. holds a bachelors degree in Business Administration from St. Xavier University and also has studied International business at the American University of Rome. J.P. loves spending time with his family, Duke 5, Colin 2 and his wife Brooke.  When he is not working he is trying to watch a game, hike a trail, or get on his boat to fish.
