#EmployeeAppreciationDay: Showing Appreciation Through Empowerment
March 01, 2018 by Amanda Maksymiw

Curating an engaging and meaningful employee experience is a staple for any successful modern business. As attitudes towards the workplace continue to shift, today’s employees feel increasingly empowered to pursue opportunities which help impact positive change; they view their professional lives as complementary to their personal lives and vice versa. That is, in part, why many organizations are supplementing traditional benefits packages with perks beyond competitive pay or comprehensive health plans (although both remain popular). The most attractive differentiators are those which reflect these changing perceptions of what it means to work. Remote work options, flexible schedules – employees want to take further ownership of their individual workstyle, however that may take shape. It often results in a staff which is not only more productive, but takes greater pride in their contributions to an organization.
Tomorrow, March 2, is Employee Appreciation Day. The aptly named holiday is not only an opportunity to give thanks to the community which keeps businesses running, but celebrate what it means to be an employee in the 21st Century. We here at Fuze take immense pride in our staff of Fuzers from across the globe, and would like to take this moment to thank them for all they do to help power the future of work.
Part of that appreciation is Fuze’s commitment to practicing what we preach – to ensuring our employees feel the most ownership of how they work. In doing so, we surveyed our own employee base to see what was important to them as we looked to build a new HQ in Boston last year and found that 70 percent were already working from home at least one day a week and more wanted additional flexibility. With this, alongside the opening of our Hub in Boston’s Historic Copley Place, we announced our Work From Anywhere policy. This system encourages employees to work alongside their managers to create a personalized remote schedule that best meets their individual needs. That might mean two days a week remote from a favorite coffee shop, or even an every-other-week onsite schedule to accommodate both work and family obligations. The possibilities are diverse as the employees who bring the policy to life.
Happy Employee Appreciation Day, Fuzers!
