Reasons to be Thankful for Digital Communications
This Thanksgiving, we’ve set aside time to reflect on why we are thankful. As a company in the UCaaS space, we are especially grateful for the benefits we reap as a result of the advancements in digital communications.
Bringing us closer, together
Digital communications help us bridge the gulf of distances that often separate us from colleagues, family, and friends. Now, instead of a lengthy back and forth as you and a coworker try to align on a strategy, you are able to see and hear each other, engaging in a natural and collaborative conversation. Just think, a mere 100 years ago many people still relied on letter writing as their main form of long distance communications, drawing out conversations over the span of months or even years. With that in mind, we can’t help but feel grateful that in 2018, instant communication is only a tap of the finger away.
Digital communication technologies have also allowed us to achieve previously unseen levels of efficiency. We are able to keep in constant contact, so plans can be made quickly, changed swiftly, and enacted seamlessly all within the span of a few hours. Not only does this make us more productive, but the added efficiency also frees up our time to focus on the things that are truly important, from the execution of a crucial strategy, to signing off an hour or two earlier and using that time for our own personal development.
The flexibility created by digital communications is something that we at Fuze are especially thankful for. The ability to instantly communicate with anyone around the globe is transforming the ways in which we work. Instead of being tied to our desks, physical offices, and 9 to 5 schedules as in earlier decades, we are now free to work where and when we need to. We no longer lose a day of good work to travel, nor are we forced to miss important moments in our personal lives because being out of the office would mean being unavailable to support our teams. The appreciation that workers have for these advances are clear, as 54% of employees would even move to another company to have such flexibility at work. Having the freedom to work on your own terms empowers workers around the globe to do their best work while simultaneously living their best lives. In many cases, flexibility at work is eliminating what was once seen as a costly tradeoff between personal and professional success.
These are just a few highlights that represent why we are thankful for digital communications. So when you’re texting your friends to figure out plans while you’re back home for the holiday, responding to a last minute team email to wrap up a key project before signing off, or video calling a relative who is celebrating the holiday somewhere else, be sure to take a moment to pause and consider just how fortunate we all are to have technology that brings us all closer.
